PETE'S UNDERCOVER FIELD NOTES

The undercover investigation into C.C. Baird and Martin Creek Kennels was a dangerous assignment. LCA's undercover investigator, “Pete”, kept a daily log of what he saw. Some of these field notes are posted below.

PET'E'S FIELD NOTES - DECEMBER 3-5, 2001

Excerpt:

"I frequently saw Tim dragging dogs by their necks with a rope leash when they wouldn't walk, and watched him at one point watch a dog fight for 15-20 seconds before entering the pen to stop it. He walked in with his leash, and I heard whipping noises and Tim say, 'See that's what you get!'"

PETE'S FIELD NOTES - DECEMBER 6-11, 2001

Excerpt:

"I watched Tim on numerous occasions drag dogs by their chain collars, throw dogs into pens, kick dogs, and slap dogs in their faces. Once he got a dog down from atop the wooden box in the kennel by pulling on the dogs chain collar until it fell to the concrete floor."

PETE'S FIELD NOTES - DECEMBER 12, 2001 - JANUARY 5, 2002

Excerpt:

"When we received dogs from the aucion, we got 33 new dogs. Of the 33 new dogs, about 30 were emaciated and thin. At least half a dozen times I saw Richard slap dogs in the face as he held them for drawing blood or tried to weigh them."
